ARTHUR MOURGUE has vowed to put his latest injury torment behind – and reckons Hull KR will also bounce back from disappointment.
The France fullback is coming to terms with a major setback after re-tearing his pectoral in his first game back after three months out.
He had scored in the recent 20-16 win at Leigh before suffering the bitter blow which meant he missed the club’s Challenge Cup final outing to Wembley for a second season running.
Mourgue, 27, explained: “I have retorn the tendon.
“But this time it is in the middle of the muscle and it looks like we are going to try to rehab it without surgery this time and see how it goes.
“I don’t really know time-wise what it’s going to look like. It’ll be more based on strength and force data, taking it week to week, but it is improving well.
“It was tough [mentally] after the game. It’s the first time for me I’ve had a bad back-to-back injury like this.
“But now I’m trying to focus on what I can control and that is the rehab.
“What is done is done. It’s a good challenge. It’s now about getting ready and back as soon as I can.”
Holders Rovers, of course, lost the final 40-10 against Wigan Warriors but now switch their attention to defending their Super League title.
Mourgue, who missed last year’s Wembley success after being Cup-tied due to his mid-season switch from Catalans Dragons, added: “We really wanted to do back-to-back Challenge Cup wins.
“The good thing is the season is not over and I know that will be the next challenge for us: to go win the Super League.
“I know this group and I know this is something we want to do with Willie [Peters] leaving at the end of the year we want to finish strongly.”
Morgue was speaking at Hill Dickinson Stadium, home of Everton FC and venue for Magic Weekend.
Although unlikely to be fit for Rovers’ game there on July 4, he admitted: “For me, these types of games are really good to play.
“I enjoy playing in the big stadiums on special occasions and it’s the derby this year. You want to play in that and it is a strong motivation for me.”
