Hull KR warned to forget Wembley and focus on survival

Hull KR assistant coach Willie Poching has warned the squad that they must get their Wembley thrashing out of their minds as soon as possible – and readjust their focus on Super League survival.

The Robins have made a strong start to the Super 8s, being the only team to have won all three games in The Qualifiers thus far.

But they face Super League rivals Wakefield on Sunday with the loss to Leeds at Wembley still fresh in their minds, and Poching insists they have to get their minds back on the job at hand.

“We’ve got to put this defeat to the back of our minds – we’re professional and fighting for our Super League survival, careers and lives,” Poching told the Hull Daily Mail.

“We understand what’s in front of us and what challenge Wakefield pose. It’s almost a separate Cup competition.

“We’ve given ourselves a bit of a boost being the only team unbeaten, but everybody will be gunning for us and we’ve got some tough challenges ahead.

“We’ve got to try and get as many wins as soon as possible to secure our spot.”
