Injury and disciplinary concerns aplenty following Challenge Cup Final

THE Challenge Cup Final may be over for another year, but the injury and disciplinary fallout from Wigan Warriors’ 40-10 win over Hull KR will last well into the weeks ahead.

Hull KR second-rower Dean Hadley lasted less than four minutes of the final before failing a head-injury assessment.

As such, he will be ruled out of next Saturday’s Super League game against Wakefield Trinity.

Meanwhile, Mikey Lewis completed the full 80 minutes but was clearly hampered by an ankle injury that didn’t seem to get any better throughout the game.

Wigan’s Bevan French came through the final 20 minutes unscathed after recovering from a torn hamstring, a month earlier than the original diagnosis had suggested.

However, the halfback is now set to return to rehab for at least another couple of weeks.

Wigan will be sweating over disciplinary issues for Sam Walters and Junior Nsemba, with the former seeing red for a dangerous tackle on KR’s Bill Leyland.

Nsemba may also be cited for the incident after his action seemingly saw Leyland land on his neck.
