It’s do or die, says Daryl Powell

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has left fans in no doubt about the enormity of tonight’s game against St Helens – describing it as a “defining moment of their season”.

Castleford must beat the Saints to stand any chance of making the top four and the Super League semi-finals, and will at least be buoyed by the fact they beat the defending champions at home earlier this year in one of the games of the season.

But Powell’s side are now in the last chance saloon, and he admitted tonight is going to be do or die for his team – but he has backed his squad to deliver when it truly matters.

“We’re four points behind and our points difference is not great but we need to start reeling one of the teams in. This is a defining moment in our season,” he said.

“It’s going to be a tough challenge, there is no question about that, but we’ve beaten all the sides we’re playing against so we can do it.

“The challenge is to do it under pressure. It’s do or die for us and I hope our performance reflects that.”
