I’ve failed Hull FC so far, says captain

Hull FC captain Gareth Ellis believes his side’s lack of recent silverware means he has been a failure at the club.

The former Great Britain star, 33, joined the Airlie Birds at the start of 2013 with big ambitions.

“I’ve failed on my assignment here to be part of the success of the club – winning silverware or putting us in a position to win silverware – and I don’t think I’ve done that yet,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.

“Two years ago I arrived with high expectations and looked forward to it. I spoke to the boss, and I still think he’s passionate about the club going forward.

“Next year is another year and hopefully it can be a better one than this year.”
