James Donaldson signs new Hull KR deal

Hull Kingston Rovers forward James Donaldson has signed a new contract extension at the club which could keep him at the Lightstream Stadium until the end of 2018 – just as TotalRL told you he had done several weeks ago:

Donaldson was out of contract at the end of this season but he has now penned a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months, too.

“I’m really pleased to be staying at the club and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead with a new coach and what Jamie Peacock is starting to bring in,” he told the club’s official website. “I met JP (Jamie Peacock) about five weeks ago to chat about things. It’s been a bit of a long process with me getting injured at the start of the year and the club understandably wanting to see me get back playing before making a decision a new deal.

“I sat down with Jamie and I said that I enjoyed my time at Bradford and I couldn’t see myself loving another club that way again, but I’ve come here and found that I love Hull KR just as much and it’s where I want to be.

“The future’s bright and I think I’m starting to come into what I want to be as a player. There’s good times ahead and I want to be part of that.”

Peacock added: “James is a really good bloke to have around the squad. He is a consistent performer and a real professional who works hard to improve his game.

“At the age of 24, he has his best years ahead of him and we’re looking forward to having him on board for another couple of years.”
