James Roby and Shannon McDonnell back for St Helens

St Helens have been handed a triple boost on the injury front with the return of several key names for this weekend’s trip to Hull KR – including talismanic hooker James Roby.

Roby has missed the defeats to Salford and Sydney Roosters with a rib injury, but he’s back in the 19-man squad for the trip to the KC Lightstream Stadium – a ground the Saints haven’t won at in the league since 2007.

Perhaps equally as important for the Saints is the inclusion of fullback Shannon McDonnell. The Aussie hasn’t played since midway through last season after suffering an Achilles injury, which prompted the Saints to draft in Adam Quinlan from the NRL.

Jack Owens has been the man at the back for Saints so far this year, but the return of McDonnell and youngster Matty Dawson could change that.

Morgan Knowles, Theo Fages and Greg Richards all miss out.

St Helens squad to face Hull KR: Tommy Makinson, Jordan Turner, Adam Swift, Travis Burns, Luke Walsh, Alex Walmsley, James Roby, Kyle Amor, Atelea Vea, Jon Wilkin, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Lama Tasi, Andre Savelio, Luke Thompson, Dominique Peyroux, Joe Greenwood, Matty Dawson, Jack Owens, Shannon McDonnell.
