Joel Tomkins’ Wigan career over after agreeing deal to join Hull KR

Joel Tomkins’ Wigan career is over.

The forward has agreed a deal to join Super League rivals Hull Kingston Rovers with immediate effect, TotalRL has learned, meaning he will not play for the Warriors again after being stood down by the club last week.

And after news of his availability materialised, the Robins acted swiftly to try and bring him to East Yorkshire, with a deal until the end of next season now understood to have been agreed.

It means Tomkins could make his Robins debut as early as next week, when Castleford are the opponents.

Tomkins was suspended for four weeks on Monday after footage emerged of him and brother Sam verbally abusing staff in a bar in Wigan over the weekend.

Wigan subsequently fined him £10,000 and suspended him for four weeks pending an internal investigation – however, it appears that Tomkins will have left the club before that investigation has chance to be concluded.
