John Cartwright in talks on Catalans Dragons future

JOHN CARTWRIGHT says his Catalans Dragons future is yet to be decided, but has indicated a desire to stay on as head coach.

The former Hull FC boss joined Catalans in May on a deal for the remainder of the season.

Speaking after Thursday’s 18-16 defeat at Warrington Wolves, his second in five matches at the helm, Cartwright revealed: “We’ve said we’ll give it a little bit of time to see how both sides feel.

“I spoke to the club last week about where it’s at, and we haven’t finalised anything, but I’m really enjoying the job.

“It came along at the right time and it’s been a real breath of fresh air to work with the people that I’m working with.”

Cartwright bemoaned his side’s lack of composure against Warrington, admitting it was a result they let slip away.

“I’m disappointed, because I thought we dominated for periods,” he said.

“We didn’t put enough pressure on them through our errors, penalties and six agains. It was just a constant stream.

“Effort-wise, and defensively, it was probably as good as I have seen the boys, but when you are constantly penalised and make errors, it is just a bridge too far.”
