Wakefield chairman Michael Carter has lauded the performances of winger Tom Johnstone.
The youngster has produced a number of scintillating performances in recent weeks, notably scoring a sensational try against Huddersfield and a hat-trick in victory over Salford.
His dazzling displays have caught the attention of the masses, and Carter praised his attitude during his rise to stardom.
“Suddenly he’s the new hero of Wakefield,” he said.
“Everybody is talking about Tom Johnstone at this moment in time. The best thing about him is that he is such a level headed kid. He comes in and is one of the lads. He always takes the time to see his family at the end of a game and there’s no edge to him at all. He works very hard in everything he tries to do and at this moment in time he’s getting the just rewards for that.
“He’s only a young kid and been playing the sport for six years. There’s still a lot more improvement in Tom and he’ll agree with that.”
Carter has been able to bask in the glory of three consecutive wins over Easter, but unfortunately, that has forced him to miss out on several hours of sleep.
“After I got back after the Salford game, I watched it back on Sky, so I didn’t end up getting to bed until three in the morning! I just get so involved in watching any footage I can and that’s how I celebrate winning games really.”
