Jordan Baldwinson is taking the family way to Hunslet

HUNSLET have snapped up Jordan Baldwinson on a one-year contract after he shone while on loan from Doncaster this year.

And the move means the frontrower or loose-forward, whose experience is seen by coach Kyle Trout as being very valuable to a relatively young squad, is back on home turf.

For the 31-year-old, the great-nephew of Billy Baldwinson, a popular Hunslet forward of the 1960s, started out at the old Hunslet Warriors amateur club (in late 2022 they merged with Hunslet Club Parkside to form Hunslet ARLFC).

Jordan Baldwinson came through the Leeds Rhinos Academy to make 15 first-team appearances across two spells separated by stints at New Zealand Warriors, where he played in the development system, and Featherstone Rovers.

After leaving Leeds at the end of the 2017 season, he played for Wakefield Trinity, York (City) Knights and Bradford Bulls before joining Doncaster in 2925.

Baldwinson made twelve appearances for Hunslet as they finished twelfth this year, and Trout said: “We saw the immense impact he had on the squad, and now it’s about building on those foundations and kicking on.

“Baldy is a player who leads by example every single day. He brings a massive amount of experience, genuine quality and an uncompromising workrate.

“His leadership and commitment on and off the field really set the standard for what we want to achieve here.

“He adds some real steel and aggression to our pack, and I know the rest of the boys are buzzing to have him back. He’s refreshed, hungry and ready to rip in again.”

Baldwinson said: “Hunslet have a huge place in my family’s history and pulling on the shirt is special.

“I’m a proud Hunslet lad and I can’t wait to get back out there and give absolutely everything I’ve got alongside my teammates for these fantastic fans.”
