Rochdale Hornets head coach Alan Kilshaw believes Jono Smith needs some guidance after being handed an eight-match ban for abusing match officials.
Smith joined the Hornets two weeks ago, but will have to wait until March to make his debut after being handed a lengthy suspension.
“Jono put his hands up and pleaded guilty.
“He made us aware of it before we even started negotiating with him. I do feel he was a bit let down by his previous club in regards to the support they provided. Going forward Jono needs a bit of educating on that and he’ll have learnt his lesson because he’s going to miss a certain number of games.”

“We’ve got plenty of depth and we’ll utilise our partnership club. He’ll have to do some extra fitness once we start playing the games, but he’ll be chomping at the bit once his ban is over and there will be plenty of games to be played.”
