KR couldn’t cope, admits Chester

Chris Chester expressed his dismay following Hull KR’s embarrassing 60-20 defeats to fierce rivals Hull FC.

Rovers conceded ten tries in what was another disappointing pre-season defeat for KR after their comfortable defeat to Huddersfield last week.

And Chester admitted it had been hard to watch, although he is keen to take positives out of elements of the attacking display.

“We just couldn’t cope with their big men through the middle,” he said.

“We’re disappointed with result and scoreline but we’ll take some positives from it.

“The missed tackles in the middle were a worry. There was a lot of them. The left edge especially worked well today, but the right edge needs some work doing to it but we’ve got two weeks before our next game and the main positive is that there were no points to be won or lost today.

“The manner of the defeat, leaking 60 points leaves me very disappointed.

“We’ll stick together we’ll re-focus and we’ll continue to work hard together in training, that’s all we can do. We need to get some bodies back out on the field and maybe bring another body in.”
