League Express Gamestars – Round 14

Every week, League Express’ reporters are tasked with allocating Albert Goldthorpe Medal points in every Super League match.

A number of stars came to the fore this week, and here are the six stars that took home the maximum three points from their outings this week.

Castleford v Leeds – Luke Gale

An involvement in seven of their nine tries, eight goals, four tackle busts, seven attacking kicks, two clean breaks and three dummy-runs in a total of 130 metres made suggests a near-complete performance.

His three points here put him joint top of the Albert Goldthorpe Medal standings as he looks to defend the crown.

Catalans v Huddersfield – Louis Anderson

Louis-Anderson

Anderson had a top game in both attack and defence and, in a game where tempers flared, he remained calm and composed to help see the Dragons home.

Hull KR v Widnes – Shaun Lunt

Lunt KR

With Lunt on the field, Rovers are a far better team.

He starred in this match and was key to all of their best play.

If Rovers can keep their better players on the field, they could still go a long way this year.

St Helens v Salford – Louie McCarthy Scarsbrook

The entire Saints pack was outstanding in this game, but Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook was particularly outstanding.

It’s easy to see why LMS is so popular at Langtree Park, with his first try a reward for his display thereafter.

Wakefield v Warrington – Jacob Miller

Miller Wakefield

Miller was simply outstanding.

He epitomises the upturn in form Wakefield have produced under Chris Chester, and his progression in the last 12 months has been simply staggering.

Wigan v Hull FC – Leon Pryce

Pryce to use

Pryce rolled back the years on Friday and tormented Wigan for the full 80 minutes.

He was influential in both attack and defence for Lee Radford’s side and deserved this accolade.

It makes you question whether Hull FC might fight to keep Pryce at the KC Stadium beyond the end of the season.
