Leeds lose Tom Briscoe for three months

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott has confirmed the club will be without Tom Briscoe for the next three months of action due to a shoulder injury.

Briscoe, who missed Leeds’ win against Wigan last weekend due to the problem, will undergo surgery this weekend to resolve the issue, and will now miss a lengthy spell of action after a strong start to the season.

“Tom will be out for around three months with this shoulder injury,” said McDermott.

“He’s done a fair bit of damage there sadly. He’s been very good to start the year, and we’ll miss him.

“It gives an opportunity to Ash Handley to get some more game time, though.”

McDermott also confirmed the club are likely to be without Kevin Sinfield for the trip to Catalans on Saturday, too.

“He’s still having treatment on a hamstring injury, so the likelihood is he won’t play,” he said.
