BRAD ARTHUR is hopeful the hindrance that saw Jake Connor substituted late in Leeds Rhinos’ 66-16 win at York Knights isn’t too serious.
Halfback Connor, the reigning Man of Steel, came off with around 15 minutes remaining after being in apparent discomfort for some time.
“He was tight in his calf and tight in his glute early, so we just took the precaution of taking him off,” said Rhinos coach Arthur.
“We’ll have to wait and see, but hopefully he’s okay.
“You could see early in the game that he was grabbing at his glute, it was just tightening up a little bit.”
The result took Leeds back above Wigan Warriors on points difference at the top of the Super League table with three rounds to go.
“We didn’t come here expecting to score 66 points, so I’m happy with that,” said Arthur.
“I thought we started with a really good intensity level, and I thought our mentality was really, really good.
“In the second half, maybe the mentality drifted at times, but it becomes hard when you’re up around 40 points and the chances and opportunities are there.
“We had to make a forced interchange at half-time with Cameron (Smith), and it did challenge the spine with trying to look after our middles. We probably could have been a touch better at that.
“Our spine did a really good job, they played really well. They were really connected and showed the improvements and things we had to get right from last week.”
