LEEDS RHINOS halfback Mel Howard says there is still work to do as the tougher second half of the season approaches.
After this weekend’s matches, with Leeds heading to Huddersfield, the Women’s Super League will split in half, with the top four then facing each other home and away to fight for the two Grand Final spots.
Leeds go into Sunday’s game against the Giants on the back of a five-match winning run and sitting second in the table, just two points behind leaders Wigan.
“There are still a few things to work on,” said the former St George Illawarra Dragons and Sydney Roosters star.
“Ideally, we’d like to have a higher completion rate, but so far, there have been lots of positives.
“We’ve found a bit of a groove in our game now, which is nice. Everyone seems to know their role and are doing their jobs really well, so we’re moving in the right direction.
“Hopefully we can continue to build on that for the tougher end of the season, which is exciting.
“Huddersfield are a decent team and have been doing really well this year so I’m up for that challenge and looking forward to facing a new team we’ve not yet played this year.”
The latest of the five wins was 72-0 against Leigh, with Howard scoring two tries, having a hand in others, and landing eight goals for Lois Forsell’s side.
“It was a good team performance and everyone contributed and played their own role well,” she added.
“When everyone does their job well, it makes my life a bit easier and helps me run with the ball a little bit. If I’m doing that, it helps the middles to be threats as well, so full credit to all the girls.”
