Young Huddersfield Giants hooker Kruise Leeming believes his game is developing thanks to the help of Ryan Hinchcliffe.
Leeming has featured in both Super League games for the Giants this season, coming off the bench in a move that allows Hinchcliffe to move to loose-forward.
The Swaziland-born star thinks that spending time both on and off the field with the former Melbourne player, who had an illustrious career in the NRL with Storm, is bringing his own game on.
“Ryan Hinchcliffe has given me loads of advice,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’ve learnt so much from him especially during pre-season. He has a brilliant character, he’s there to help me and I saw that straight away. As soon as he came over here he’s helped me from the get go and has given me advice about different plays and has helped my game in general.
“Hinchy is a solid player and brings loads of talking to the team, to be fair when I come on and he goes to 13 I love playing with him as well because he is one of those characters and he doesn’t take any shortcuts so it’s a pleasure to play alongside him and learn from him.”
Huddersfield go in search of their first win of the season this Sunday when they take on Widnes Vikings at the John Smith’s Stadium. While the Giants have lost to both St Helens and Wigan, Widnes have had a solid start to the season; defeating Wakefield, destroying Leeds and almost securing a thrilling comeback against Salford.
And Leeming is under no illusions how difficult the game will prove to be.
“Widnes will be good this Sunday as they have started the season well and are in form. We are going for the win and we need to perform well if we want the two points but the lads are confident and we all can’t wait for the game.
“They will bring a fair few fans so it will but tough but every game in Super League is going to be hard this season, like you see Leeds at the bottom of the table, obviously they won’t finish there but is shows you anything can happen in this league which is a good thing really.”
