Leigh Leopards boss hits out at ‘frustrating’ refereeing

ADRIAN LAM was happy to see his Leigh Leopards beat Leeds Rhinos – but frustrated by the new ruck interpretations.

Leigh’s 26-14 victory was a stop-start affair despite attempts to speed the game up this season, with both sides regularly penalised.

“I thought the game went in patches depending on how the referee refereed the game,” said coach Lam.

“I’m not a fan of it, to be honest with you. I think there’s too many stoppages. I didn’t need to make any changes really in the game because we had time-outs for checking decisions and six‑agains.

“It’s just frustrating, and they can influence the outcome quite easily.”

Otherwise, the Leopards boss could enjoy a notable win, a packed stadium and a clean bill of health.

“I’m obviously happy that we won and got through with no injuries,” added Lam.

”First home game, a few new faces in the team making their Super League debut for us, so it’s important that we won here at home in front of our fans and a sold‑out stadium.”
