Liam Hood confirms new Castleford Tigers deal

LIAM HOOD has signed a one-year contract extension with Castleford Tigers.

The 34-year-old had penned a one-year contract with the Tigers for 2026, with the option of a further year included.

And that option has now been triggered as Hood looks to compete with new signing Damien Cook for the number nine shirt.

Hood made 17 appearances in his first season at the OneBore Stadium, scoring four tries.

However, the wily hooker spent more than two months sidelined with a serious neck injury, with initial fears that the problem would force the former Wakefield Trinity number nine into an early retirement.

Hood said: “I’m really pleased to have extended for another year.

“I was frustrated with how I personally went last year with injuries and not finding my best form, and also how we went as a team as I knew we could be so much better.

“But the club has made some great signings and I can’t wait to get back in and hopefully have a great year.”

Castleford’s director of rugby Chris Chester added: “Liam is an experienced player who brings composure, leadership and a winning mentality to our squad.

“We’re delighted to have him on board for 2027 as we continue to strengthen the group and move this club forward.”
