London Broncos confident of Super League place in 2027

LONDON BRONCOS owners Grant Wechsel and Darren Lockyer believe that the capital club will make it to Super League in 2027.

The Broncos were denied a place in the top flight for 2026, with Toulouse Olympique and York Knights instead being chosen by an independent panel chaired by Lord Jonathan Caine to make the jump.

Since then, however, both men have taken the news on the chin and built the club drastically on and off the field.

Head coach Jason Demetriou has been tasked with leading London to glory on the field with a plethora of NRL-quality signings such as Siliva Havili, Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Dean Hawkins in tow.

And it’s fair to say that Wechsel is confident that the off-field matters will soon point the club in the direction of Super League.

“2027. I can’t see why with the way the grading system is now for 2027 and the focus we’ve got on winning the Championship that we can’t do that (get promoted next season),” Wechsel told the League Express podcast.

“We’ve got a lot of focus on all those off-field metrics. You can see publicly from our socials the engagement we are getting now compared to what the club was getting before.

“The non-playing score will be stronger and with the added points of hopefully winning the Championship and on-field performance will help too.

“From our point of view, promotion is as soon as possible.”

Lockyer also believes that it’s about concentrating on themselves rather than anything else.

“It’s the same focus on the process not the outcome. We will do what we need to do to give ourselves the best chance to get into Super League as quick as possible,” Lockyer said.

“There will be some things out of our control like who decides who goes in and who doesn’t but, from our perspective, it’s about doing what we need to do on and off the field to put ourselves in the best position to get back in.”
