Long couldn’t resist return to St Helens

St Helens legend Sean Long has said that he simply couldn’t turn down the opportunity to return to the club, after he returned to Langtree Park as part of Keiron Cunningham’s backroom staff for 2015.

Long won every domestic honour in the game with the Saints during an illustrious career, before embarking on a career on the other side of the touchline after retiring. However, after coming back to the club with which he had so much success, Long says he couldn’t resist coming back to assist Cunningham in his new role.

‘‘I really am happy and am loving doing what I am doing back at Saints,” Long told the MEN.

‘‘When the chance came my way to go back to Saints, I could not resist such an opportunity.

‘‘I had great times there as player – they were special times in fact. I again felt at home the moment I walked through the door.

‘‘I played alongside Keiron, we had some wonderful times together and this is another great opportunity to serve this fine club.
