Shaun Lunt has confirmed he will miss around two months of the season after undergoing an operation on his ankle.
Hull KR’s influential hooker had a procedure to remove a bone spur in his ankle on Wednesday and will begin his recovery after another consultation with a specialist on Friday.
“It’s still a little bit swollen, but I have a makeshift shoe to help me get around,” Lunt told TotalRL.
“I’ve been carrying it for a couple of years and I feel all the other niggly injuries were all coming from this so hopefully that will sort me out. My range of movement wasn’t good and I was getting pains here and there.
“When you have a load of contact and bangs you get a build up of fluid and the bones lay on it, which restricts your movement. I was always pushing off my opposite leg because of it, but that has been removed.”
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has rubbished suggestions that he is also struggling with a back injury. An online gossip column suggested that the hooker had been nursing an additional problem in his back, but Lunt confirmed those reports were totally inaccurate.
