Mariano set for Batley appearance

Batley Bulldogs are set to name Frankie Mariano in their squad to face Workington on Sunday.

The Castleford Tigers forward has signed dual registration forms with the Bulldogs following Ryan Boyle’s loan move to Halifax, but the club are still awaiting RFL approval.

Mariano has suffered a string of injuries in the last 12 months, battling wrist, knee and quad problems, restricting him to just one appearance in 2016.

Batley are currently fifth in the Championship, one point behind fourth placed Featherstone. Mariano’s teammate Greg Minikin has played for Batley in recent weeks.
