Benji Marshall’s future is one of the biggest talking points in the NRL at the moment – and it seems as if there has been a new twist in the tale on Friday.
Fox Sports are reporting that St George-Illawarra Dragons have pulled their $300,000 offer to the New Zealand international off of the table – which, if true, effectively makes him a free agent at the end of this season.
Fox’s chief NRL reporter, James Hooper, says that the offer has been withdrawn and Marshall’s negotiations with the Dragons have cooled off.
“In terms of his contract negotiations, they’re currently on hold,” Hooper said.
“That $300,000 offer that was on the table — that’s not there any more at the moment. Benji needs to get back out there and put some performances together.”
If Marshall does become a free agent, Super League clubs would surely be aware of the situation, you feel.
