Hull KR captain Tyrone McCarthy has revealed that he’ll be hoping to use his essential Wembley experience to guide the squad to victory against Leeds Rhinos this Saturday.
McCarthy is a Wembley winner – and has even scored in a Challenge Cup Final success with Warrington – so knows the ins and outs of preparing for such a big game.
And he revealed that he sees a similar buzz and feeling about the group than the Warrington one which won at Wembley on their first visit there in years – and he’s hoping for a repeat on Saturday.
“Obviously some lads won’t have a clue what’s going to be happening this week, so I’ll give them a heads up,” he said.
“When I got there with Warrington the first time, it was similar in that it was about 20 or 30 years since they’d won the cup or been to Wembley.
“There was a real excitement in the camp and I’ve got the same feeling this week. Hopefully, we can follow suit and get the win.”
