McShane reveals Cas deal had already been agreed

Castleford Tigers hooker Paul McShane has revealed how just 48 hours after agreeing a deal to join Castleford for 2016, he was signing with the club on loan for the rest of this season.

McShane has effectively signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Tigers – with a six-month loan deal followed up by a two-year contract for 2016 and 2017.

And the hooker said after initially agreeing the deal for next season, he found the transfer hurried through early just 48 hours later.

“We’d agreed a deal for next season on the Monday and I was due to go training (at Wakefield) on the Wednesday, but got called in,” he said.

“We decided to make the move now to bring some fresh faces in and boost the squad.

“I was totally committed to Wakefield’s cause whichever situation they ended up in. But the opportunity came to work under Daryl Powell and my manager and myself are big admirers of him.
