Mickael Simon signs new deal at Wakefield

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed that forward Mickael Simon has signed a new deal with the club.

Simon has signed a new one year deal, with the option of a further year, which would keep at Belle Vue until the end of 2018.

The prop, who has made nine appearances for his country, has become a key part of the Wildcats’ setup under Chris Chester, with six of his nine appearances this season coming since Chester took over as head coach.

Having spent five years at the Dragons, amassing 64 appearances for the French side, Simon impressed in his debut season in 2015 for the Wildcats, subsequently being awarded the number 11 shirt for the 2016 season.

“I am very happy to stay here especially as I have built up a great relationship with the rest of the squad and the coaching staff, it is a good opportunity for me,” Simon said. “The club has grown over the past year and it is nice to know that I am part of Chris Chester’s plans for the future.”

Chester himself said: “I am pleased that we have been able to secure Mika for another year, he is a fantastic player. He’s been a stand out performer for us this season and I am looking forward to see what else he has to show us over the next year.

“The main intention for the club is to keep all of our best players and I feel we are on the right path to do this.”
