Monaghan: Cas have more to give

Castleford Tigers winger Joel Monaghan says that he feels the best is still yet to come in 2016 – for both himself and his team-mates.

Monaghan has found himself in and out of the Tigers side since joining from Warrington at the start of the season, revealing that he has been suffering from an ongoing back problem.

However, he says there are good times ahead for everyone at Castleford after an up and down start to 2016.

“There’s so much more to come from this group this year yet, believe me,” said Monaghan.

“We’ve battled to some good wins lately and there’s a lot of teams with injury troubles, so let’s wait and see what happens when we get everyone back on board from the treatment room and we get everyone firing.

“I believe there are some good times coming for this club and it’s only going to make the boys tougher, the way we’ve battled to get some wins.

“It’s felt a bit up and down for me.

“I’ve missed a few big games and some big wins, which is tough to take because you want to be playing in them, but all I want to do is focus on stringing some form together.

“I’ve had two little stints out with my back, but hopefully that’s all sorted out now.

Monaghan is also conscious of a big month ahead for Castleford, with the Super League table still looking tight in mid-April.

“I’ve never seen it as tight as this since I arrived in England, and it’s great for the fans and the game,” he added.

“We’ve got to worry about ourselves and if we string some more wins together you start to look up the table.

“We’re a third of the way through now and if we can perform over the next month we’ll put ourselves in a good spot come the end of the year.”
