SALFORD have brought in two businessmen they believe will strengthen their commercial operation and help them build for the future.
Luke Backhouse and Matt Meyerson are on board as partners of the club, who relaunched in December after the liquidation of the old Salford Red Devils.
Backhouse is a British real estate entrepreneur and property developer primarily known for managing a massive commercial and residential portfolio in the UK and for driving major regeneration projects in the Liverpool City Region.
Meyerson is an American entertainment veteran, marketing strategist and talent manager operating within the sports and entertainment sectors. He has links with Leeds United Football Club.
Salford managing director Malcolm Compton said: “We want to build something sustainable, but sustainable doesn’t mean standing still. This club deserves more than that.
“Luke and Matt both bring experience, contacts and opportunities that simply wouldn’t normally be available to a Championship Rugby League club. That gives us access we didn’t have before.
“Every pound we generate goes back into rugby. That’s what this is all about.”
Backhouse said: “I’ve always backed places and people others have underestimated. This
club doesn’t need discovering. It just needs the right doors opening.”
Meyerson added: “In sport, authenticity matters. Manufactured stories don’t travel. Real ones do.
“Rugby League has genuine global appeal and Salford RLFC have a story worth telling. I’m excited to take that story to a broader audience.”
