New two-year deal for Arundel at Wakefield

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have announced that centre Joe Arundel has signed a new two-year deal.

Arundel joined the Wildcats on a season long loan from Hull FC in February and has earned himself a regular starting place in the Wildcats squad, making 23 appearances and scoring four tries. His new two-year deal will see him at the Wildcats until the end of the 2017 season.

The centre started his professional career at Castleford Tigers in 2010 before making the move to the Black and Whites in 2013. It was announced in April 2014 that he had gone on loan to Bradford Bulls on a season long loan.

Arundel has expressed his excitement at penning a permanent deal with Wakey, saying: “I am very pleased to have signed a new deal, it is an exciting time to be at the club.

“It is a fresh start for me and I cannot wait. I am looking forward to getting a proper pre season under my belt as I have not had one in three years, I want to make sure I get some quality work done with the coaching staff in pre season.”

Wildcats coach Brian Smith admits he has been very impressed with Arundel during his time in charge at the end of last season.

He said: “Joe provided a solid stability throughout the latter part of last season. We are keen to see how the physical development of a big off season working on skills and his time in the gym pays off for big Joe.”
