Ben Thaler, considered by many to be one of the best referees in Super League, has not been given a fixture in the top tier this weekend.
Thaler will head off to the Championship and officiate on Bradford’s match against Sheffield Eagles, following the appointments which were revealed on the RFL’s website earlier today.
Thaler was in the news on Monday when, whilst officiating Catalans’ home game against Castleford, he was seen deliberating with Todd Carney over a decision that was sent upstairs to video referee Thierry Alibert.
And Gareth Hewer, Joe Cobb, Phil Bentham, Robert Hicks, Richard Silverwood and James Child will instead be the six officials on duty at the weekend.
