North Wales Crusaders make home games autism-inclusive

NORTH WALES CRUSADERS are making home matches autism-inclusive amid a drive to engage as many members of the local community as possible.

The relaunched Colwyn Bay club have created the ‘Sunflower Lounge’, offering a safe space for those with the neurodevelopmental condition which affects how a person perceives the world, communicates and interacts with others.

It will be available for all matches at Stadiwm CSM, with Crusaders general manager Conrad Anderson explaining: “Inclusivity is central to our philosophy.

“We want to be more than a Rugby League club and offer more than a Rugby League match, and we want everyone to feel welcome and part of the club.

“Connecting all our teams, men’s, women’s, wheelchair, with the foundation and also the fans is important.

“We don’t want to be North Wales in name only, we want people in Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and the region as a whole to be part of what we are trying to build.”

The club returned to the Championship under new ownership in early May following the insolvency of the previous company.

The Crusaders have a home meeting with London Broncos on Sunday.
