Nathan Cleary makes generous gesture in Wigan borough

NRL and Australia superstar Nathan Cleary has made a superb gesture in the Wigan borough this week, helping out at the Atherton and Leigh foodbank.

Having been staying in Manchester following the Ashes Test Series, in which Australia wiped the floor with England in a 3-0 whitewash, Cleary has been helping out in the local area.

Cleary’s partner, Mary Fowler, plays for Women’s Super League side Manchester City.

The Atherton and Leigh foodbank posted on social media that the 28-year-old was present this week to help pack bags for those less fortunate.

The post said: “We had an extra volunteer today. Nathan Cleary, star @PenrithPanthers & @Kangaroos called and put a shift in, packing bags and getting involved. Thanks for your help today Nathan, you made a real difference and helped people facing hardship to stay well fed. It’s a team effort.”
