SYDNEY ROOSTERS maintained their perfect record to earn a second successive minor premiership.

They were given a scare by CANTERBURY BULLDOGS, who led going into the second half, but after losing try-scoring centre Monica Tagoai through a 47th-minute sinbinning, they ran out of steam to lose 42-12.

Otesa Pule and Jessica Sergis struck early for the Roosters, Jocelyn Kelleher converting the first, before the Bulldogs fired themselves 12-10 in front through tries by Tagoai and Andie Robinson, both goaled by Tayla Preston.

But Tagoai’s yellow card for a hip drop proved a turning point, with Millie Elliott, Taina Naividi, Pule, Mia Wood, Sergis and Kelleher, who finished with five goals, crossing to hand the Roosters a 26th consecutive regular-season win.

GOLD COAST TITANS and BRISBANE BRONCOS will head into the play-offs on a high having secured second and third spots respectively.

The Titans made it ten wins on the trot by seeing off hosts NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS 32-20.

Teagan Levi and Evania Isa’aoko went over twice each for Gold Coast, with Phoenix-Raine Hippi, Laikha Clarke and Indie Bostock also adding tries.

Mercedez Taulelei-Siala, who gave the Knights a flying start by opening the scoring in the second minute, grabbed a brace while Sienna Yeo and Fane Finau also crossed.

Reigning champions the Broncos romped to a club-record 52-18 win at home to NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS, then honoured retiring club legend Ali Brigginshaw, who kicked their final goal, with a post-match ceremony.

Brisbane led just 12-8 after a hard-fought opening half but then ran away with things and scored seven further tries.

There were doubles for Julia Robinson and Deleni Paitai while Kerri Johnson, Chelsea Lenarduzzi, Tamika Upton, Georgia Bartlett and Lauren Dam also crossed.

Gayle Broughton, Tysha Ikenasio, Stacey Waaka and Jasmin Huriwai replied.

CANBERRA RAIDERS got one over on WESTS TIGERS, whom they will face on Friday in the play-offs, as they rounded off the regular season with a 22-10 away win.

Both head into their first play-off series, with the Tigers ending up fourth and the Raiders fifth.

Canberra started brightly, with tries from Mackenzie Wiki and Leianne Tufuga helping send them into a 10-0 half-time lead.

Shenai Lendill and Salma Nour crossed for Wests, but Isabella Waterman and Jordyn Preston went in for Canberra.

Rachel Pearson struck a field-goal for the second week running as PARRAMATTA EELS left it late to beat NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS 33-28.

The Eels trailed 22-6 before despite Kennedy Cherrington’s sinbinning, Zali Fay, Jasmine Morrissey and Keilee Joseph scored tries in the space of eight minutes to help draw their side level.

It was 28-28 (Nadia Windleborn for the Cowboys, Joseph for the Parra), when Pearson, who kicked four conversions, landed her one-pointer in the 67th minute, with Rory Owen, who had scored her team’s first, then crossing for that five-point advantage.

North Queensland’s other points came through tries from Charlize Lloyd-Phillips, Ashley Marsters, Alisha Foord and Mackenzie Weale, with Rosie Kelly kicking four goals.

CRONULLA SHARKS fought back to beat basement side ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS 16-8.

Ruby-Jean Kennard-Ellis’ 21st-minute try put the Dragons in front, but the Sharks hit back through China Polata, Georgia Hannaway and Ellie Johnston, and with two Chantay Kiria-Ratu conversions, led 16-4.

St George had Tyra Ekepati sinbinned, but did manage a late consolation try through Shenae Ciesiolka.
