Odds for next England head coach revealed with clear frontrunner

THE odds have been announced for the next head coach of England, with a clear frontrunner emerging in Hull KR boss Willie Peters.

Courtesy of bookmakers’ site, Mybettingsite.co.uk, Peters has been given odds of 2/1 to replace Shaun Wane, who stepped down as head coach with immediate effect yesterday.

Wane had led England to Series victories over Samoa and Tonga, but failed to bring home the bacon in the Rugby League World Cup on home soil.

A disappointing Ashes Series against Australia proved to be the final nail in the coffin of Wane’s tenure as the RFL looks to appoint a part-time head coach ahead of this year’s World Cup.

With Peters in front with odds of 2/1, Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess isn’t far behind with odds of 4/1 as new St Helens boss Paul Rowley sits at 6/1.

Wigan Warriors’ number one Matt Peet is also close by at 8/1.

Here are the odds in full:

Willie Peters – 2/1

Sam Burgess – 4/1

Paul Rowley – 6/1

Matt Peet – 8/1

Michael Maguire – 14/1

James Graham – 16/1

Steve McNamara – 20/1

Paul Wellens – 25/1

Daryl Powell – 25/1

Wayne Bennett – 30/1

Brian McDermott – 30/1
