ODDS: Who’s the favourite for first coach to be sacked?

Hull Kingston Rovers coach Chris Chester laughed off the revelation earlier this week that he’s second favourite for the sack this season – joking that he thought he’d have been the hot favourite following the past week.

Bookmakers had him second favourite behind Wakefield boss Brian Smith – but now Chester has actually been made the joint-favourite by one bookmaker in the infamous ‘sack race’.

The Robins were thumped 38-6 by Huddersfield in the club’s opening pre-season friendly, and after Chester was quizzed on the odds for the sack, he said the following: “I thought I’d have been the favourite after the weekend!

“It comes with the territory and doesn’t worry me too much. I’ve just got to get on with my job because it’s a job I’m very privileged to do.”

The latest odds from Betway have Chester as the joint-favourite to be first sacked alongside Salford’s Ian Watson, with only ‘No coach to be sacked’ a shorter price.
