ALAN KILSHAW will carry on coaching Oldham in 2027.

The 43-year-old who has impressed since taking the Roughyeds’ reins and is plotting a Championship play-off challenge has agreed a contract extension.

It comes after ex-Rochdale Hornets, Hunslet, Swinton Lions and Keighley Cougars team chief Kilshaw piloted his squad through turbulent times off the pitch before a takeover by a consortium including former players Terry Flanagan and Martin Hall.

Oldham sealed a 17th win in 18 league matches by beating Sheffield Eagles 31-30 at Boundary Park on Sunday.

Kilshaw started the year as coach of Keighley but left in January and was then appointed as an assistant at Oldham, where Mike Ford was in charge of the team as director of rugby.

When Ford left in early February, he stepped up to become coach.

“I’ve been really enthused by the new leadership and the direction they want to take the club,” said Kilshaw.

“I’ve already started building some really solid relationships, and it feels like everyone connected with the club is aligned and wanting the same thing – success.

“This club means a lot to me already, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve started to build together.

“The support we have had from the fans home and away has been phenomenal.

“There’s still plenty of work to do and, more importantly, plenty more we want to achieve.”

Chairman Flanagan said: “We are delighted Alan has extended his contract, allowing us all to build on the hard work that has gone this season so far.

“The club have had a few difficult moments, but Alan has kept the players and camp very focused on delivering top performances and we hope a few more are still to come as we enter the play-off stage of the season.”
