SAMOA star Jarome Luai will leave Wests Tigers and play for Parramatta Eels next season ahead of his switch to PNG Chiefs.
The four-time NRL title winner with Penrith Panthers has penned a one-year-deal with Parramatta, where he is expected to partner his former New South Wales State of Origin teammate Mitchell Moses in the halves.
The 29-year-old had previously announced he would leave Wests at the end of this season, with the club agreeing to release their co-captain from the final year of his contract.
Luai, who will join PNG Chiefs ahead of their inaugural campaign in 2028, brings a wealth of leadership and experience to the Eels, having tasted success at the highest level throughout his career.
That’s something that’s not lost on the Parramatta general manager of football Mark O’Neill, who expects the halfback to have a “tremendous impact”, particularly on the club’s younger players.
“Jarome is one of the most experienced and successful players of his generation, and we’re thrilled to welcome him next year,” he said.
“His record speaks for itself. Winning four premierships requires an exceptional level of commitment, consistency and professionalism, and those are qualities Jarome will bring to our football programme every day.
“Beyond what he offers on the field, we believe Jarome will have a tremendous impact on our younger players coming through the system.
“His experience in high-performance environments and his professional approach to preparation and training will help mentor and develop the next generation of Eels.”
