Paul Anderson: Joe Wardle deserves international recognition

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson believes Giants centre Joe Wardle has the potential to be an international star.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Halifax but has three Scotland caps, picked up three of the Giants’ main individual awards this week – coaches’ player, players’ player and supporters’ player of the year.

Many believe he should be considered for an England call-up for the Four Nations, including his coach.

“If Joe doesn’t gain international recognition at the end of this year, I think it’s only a matter of time before he does,” Anderson said.

“He’s a player who’s improving all the time and the level of consistency he’s shown throughout the season has really stood out. Consistency is massive at this level, and Joe’s been a model of that.”
