Paul Vaugan lands player-coach role in Australia after York Knights exit

PAUL VAUGHAN has landed a player-coach role in his native Australia following his exit from York Knights and subsequent professional retirement.

Vaughan has signed a deal with Junee Diesels, who play in the Group 9 Rugby League competition in New South Wales.

The 35-year-old originally signed a two-year deal when he joined the Knights last autumn after three seasons with Warrington Wolves, but decided to call time on his career early.

The prop forward, who was a dual Italian and Australian international, made his NRL debut in 2013 for Canberra Raiders, and also went on to play for St George Illawarra Dragons and Canterbury Bulldogs.

Vaughan spent four years in Super League, three of them with Warrington, playing in their Challenge Cup Final appearances in 2024 and 2025.

The 35-year-old made 78 appearances for the Wolves and then 28 for York in their inaugural season in Super League.
