Powell: Castleford have been “outstanding” in 2015

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has delivered a glowing reference of his side’s performance to date this season – hailing them “outstanding”.

Castleford head into tonight’s game against Leeds knowing that anything other than defeat will take them into the top four of Super League, after back-to-back wins have moved them clear of the bottom four.

And Powell believes that, despite a plethora of injuries for the club to deal with, they’ve done brilliantly so far throughout the course of 2015.

“I think we’ve been outstanding to be honest considering what’s happened to us this year,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’ve had a lot of injuries to key players that has made it really difficult for us, but we’ve battled through it. We’ve had to stabilize our game and I think we’ve done a really good job to be where we are, equal 4th in the table.

“It’s been a challenging period but we’ve given ourselves a chance to kick on now. There are still loads more challenges but we’ve done well.”
