Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell will be able to welcome back both Matt Cook and Justin Carney for this Thursday’s game against St Helens, after they were named in his 19-man squad.
Powell praised his back division for handling the loss of Carney, who has been out for a number of weeks, so well – but is excited to be able to bring the man they call ‘The Beast’ back into the fray.
“We’ve managed a tough situation in losing Justin well, but he’s one of our elite players and he was playing outstandingly well before he got injured,” he said.
“He’s a nightmare to deal with when he’s injured – although he’s a nightmare when he’s fit! He’s a high quality player and hopefully he can kick on from where he left off.
“Both Justin and Matt will be in contention to play on Thursday night. It’s good that we are getting some players back from injury now which will potentially freshen us up. We’ve some smart players coming back into the team over the next few weeks which will obviously help us.”
