Daryl Powell has been fined £500 for criticising referee Ben Thaler.
The Castleford coach was left unhappy with Thaler’s performance following their 33-26 defeat to Wigan last month, accusing him of ‘losing his cool’.
Following the defeat, Powell said: “The way he’s talking to players is unacceptable – every single one of my players is saying that, some of whom have a decent relationship with him, too. I’ll cop a fine and I don’t care. There seems to be an issue there with him.”
A statement from the Rugby Football League said: “Powell was found to have breached RFL operational rule D1.1 (engages in conduct which is prejudicial to the interests of the game or which is improper) and operational rule C2.11 criticism of a match official.”
Half of the fine is suspended until the end of next season.
