Powell reiterates Gale for England stance

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has again backed the growing calls for Luke Gale to be selected for England at the end of the season.

The 2015 Albert Goldthorpe Medal winner shone during Castleford’s 29-22 win against Leeds, the second time Cas have won at Headingley this season.

And Powell – a former international half-back himself – believes that if the team is being picked on form, there’s every possibility he will get a go this autumn.

“I believe he should be right in the mix,” Powell said.

“He has an all-round game that’s not just about structure, he can challenge any defence and the confidence in his game is growing all the time.

“If Steve (McNamara) is looking to pick on form I think he should rightly have a chance of being selected.”
