PREVIEW: Swinton v Workington

Swinton Lions were superb in their 28-18 win over Oldham on Monday, their first win of the season.

Head Coach John Duffy receives a double boost for the game with no news of fresh injuries from their win against Oldham, while he is able to welcome back captain Mike Morrison from suspension.

Duffy praised fans after their win on Monday as his side goes in search of back-to-back wins.

Workington Town, who travel to Stalybridge FC on Sunday, suffered a 24-40 home defeat at the hands of Leigh Centurions on Easter Monday and, looking ahead to this weekend, assistant coach Jonty Gorley commented: “It is a must-win game for us.

“Monday was frustrating for us because we came close to an upset even though we only had 14 men towards the end.

“We took a few more chances than usual against a better side and the performance gave us a boost, but we’ve paid for it with a few knocks.

“No one gave us a chance but we went out, did our best and showed what they can do.”
