Wigan Warriors’ Rugby General Manager Kris Radlinski MBE has been promoted onto the Club’s Board of Directors.
The move was confirmed by Chairman Ian Lenagan at the Club’s end of season Awards Dinner. Following five years of hard work Radlinski joins the Chairman and Non-Executive Director Winston Higham on the Board.
Radlinski enjoyed a fabulous career with the Wigan Club scoring 183 tries in 322 appearances between 1993 and 2006. Since finishing his playing career, Radlinski has become an integral part of the Warriors backroom team in the role of Rugby General Manager since 2010.
Speaking at the Awards Dinner, Chairman Ian Lenagan said: “The people who run this club are of vital importance and we all know Shaun’s role in terms of the rugby side of things but perhaps people are not quite as aware, from a Director’s view, how important having a strong Board of Directors is. We are delighted to announce the appointment of one of us to be a Director of this company. He has contributed enormously over this last five years, Kris Radlinski is a very special man indeed.
“Shaun Wane and I are very well aware of how Kris has come on in the last five years from being a Full Back to the Prop that holds up Wigan in many respects and I am delighted to have him with us.”
Within his role as Rugby General Manager, Kris operates as right-hand man to Head Coach Shaun Wane providing the vital link between the Performance Department and other functions of the Club.
Kris, who will join the Board with immediate effect, spoke about the appointment: “Being a born and bred Wiganer, all I ever wanted to do was to play for this great club. I was very lucky to achieve that and feel just as lucky that I am now able to join the Board of Directors. I would like to thank Ian and Shaun for all of their support throughout my time at the Wigan Club and for giving me this great opportunity.”
