Raiders closing in on new coach

West Wales Raiders could announce their new coach as soon as Monday after narrowing the shortlist down to two very different candidates over the weekend.

And once the appointment is in place, chief executive Peter Tiffin believes the recruitment drive for next season will also take a step forward.

“We had 24 applicants for the job and had that narrowed down to three last week,” explained Tiffin.

“We then got it down to two over the weekend and spoke to both applicants again before making a decision.

“There is a massive difference between the final two. One is a very well-known name in Rugby League and the other is an up-and-coming coach.

“Once we’ve made the appointment we will then speak to the players first before making the announcement.

“Current players, and new players we are speaking to are all waiting to see who is coming in as coach before signing, which is fair enough.

“So everything else will start to fall into place once we have a new coach on board.”
