Rangers gallant in defeat

STANLEY RANGERS, who had been unable to raise a side for the recent Kingstone Press Cider National Conference League Division Two match at Blackbrook, fulfilled the fixture last night.

The Wakefield outfit travelled to St Helens with only 13 players who battled bravely, but in vain, in an 86-0 defeat at the hands of a Blackbrook outfit which is now third in the table.

Fullback Deon Cross scored four tries, while scrum-half Jordan Welsby totalled 38 points with three tries and 13 goals.

Centre Greg Hale and substitute Dave Weldon bagged a brace apiece for the hosts while second row Scott Davidson, loose forward Steve Marsh, hooker Cameron Tunstall-Muill and centre Jack Parker nipped over.

Loose forward Jordan Walker was man of the match for Stanley, who conceded three tries in the first nine minutes and were 46-0 down at the break.
