LONDON BRONCOS prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard has twice won the World Cup – now he’s ready to add the Championship Grand Final to his haul of success.
The former New South Wales and Australia prop – who helped the Kangaroos beat England 6-0 in Brisbane in the 2017 global showpiece, then defeat Samoa 30-10 at Old Trafford in 2022 – was a statement signing as the capital club, who are seeking Super League status, set out their stall for this season in the wake of the Darren Lockyer and Grant Wechsel takeover.
Coach Jason Demetriou, also brought over by the Brisbane-based owners, has already guided his charges to the Championship Leaders’ Shield and 1895 Cup.
RCG, installed as captain, lifted the latter after a 32-10 win over Widnes at Warrington.
And the 33-year-old former Penrith Panthers, Parramatta Eels and Gold Coast Titans player again led from the front as the Broncos beat Doncaster 42-6 at Wimbledon to move to within a win of the Grand Final, with their home preliminary final coming up this weekend.
While the club wait to discover what division they will be in next year, Demetriou and his squad are focused on the play-offs.
RCG was a New South Wales Cup Grand Final winner with Penrith in 2014 but lost out 28-12 to the Panthers when he made the NRL decider with Parramatta in 2022.
“It’s exciting to be involved,” he said.
“The finals are different to what I’ve experienced before but I’m enjoying the challenge.
“We’re trying to make the most of having some time out between games and having home advantage and being in front of our own fans.
“It’s about sharpening the tools and being as well prepared as we can be.”
